CAC Spring '08 In-House Squash Tournament

On this day we had an informal tournament.  About 21 people turned out.  It was divided into two phases: round-robin within boxes of one's peers.  Each match was two games.  Highest game total won box.  In the second phase the winner of a box could challenge up the next higher box, until they lost.

The winner was Craig Raubenheimer.  Here are full results.  Here are some pictures and video.

It was an informal tournament, but a tournament it was and the turnout was good!  Congratulations to our winner, Craig Raubenheimer.  Results and photos here:

The idea was to facilitate the event by minimal organization.  It was indeed minimal enough (!) that we might consider having another in the summer or fall.

 Dear squashers,

Here are some notes on tomorrow's tournament.  Drop me a line by 4pm if you want to sign up or drop out.

TIME: 11 am - 3 pm on Saturday, May 3.  We have all four courts during this time, and additionally there are likely to be open courts before and after.  Feel free to come early or stay late, but no guarantees who will be there.

ENTERTAINMENT:  The club will donate a TV and I'll bring a VCR/DVD player.  If you have any squash videos to share, please bring them for us to watch.

FOOD:  Yeah, we might have some of that.  Most likely order out pizza.

FORMAT:  Tentatively we will sort participants by rank, divide into three or four divisions, and play each division separately.  Within each division, play every other player a best 2-of-3.  (Instead of 3-of-5, in order to save time and energy.)  Winner is the player with the most games won.  Let me know if you have a better format.

PARTICIPANTS:  Appended is a list of participants with wildly approximate rankings.  Let me know if you are too far out of whack.

CONTACT:   If you want to communicate after Friday 2pm, use phone rather than e-mail.. (781)588-8629.

 Regards,

Harold
